Muslim Women For is a Muslim women-led advocacy and grassroots organization that works to center the lived experiences and issues of Black, brown, immigrant, and economically marginalized women in North Carolina. Position Summary 

The purpose of the Field and Community Manager role is to drive our advocacy and grassroots organizing programs that will build and engage with our growing base of supporters and engage them in state and local policy changes that center and support the needs of Muslim Americans in North Carolina. 

The ideal candidate will have an organizing background in Muslim or BIPOC communities, excellent relationship-building capabilities, and experience leading and driving results through a team. You’ll be joining a team committed to creating a liberatory workplace – a living experiment in which we individually and as a team make a working environment where we can show up as our whole selves. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage advocacy and electoral programs, centering on Muslim communities in North Carolina. 
  • Management and support of canvassers, volunteers, supporters, and coalition partners. 
  • Strengthen and build relationships with key stakeholders in our community, including advocacy organizations, elected officials, masjids, and campus organizations. 
  • Collaborate with a team to develop synergy & alignment among issue campaigns, policy, movement politics, communications, and power building.
  • Demonstrate a team approach, through a sharp vision, clear responsibilities, and deep commitment to our campaign goals, while investing in staff and network leadership.
  • Create successful campaigns with measurable and creative strategies and coals in collaboration with our team. 
  • Represent the organization when managing a portfolio of external ally and donor relationships.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience working with community, labor, or electoral organizations with a track record of success in developing campaigns.
  • Experience in building healthy teams that allow each team member to contribute to their fullest and thrive. 
  • A proven track record in developing strategic programming and/or campaigns for progressive, civil rights, social justice, or related organization(s), 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide superior client service and build long-lasting relationships.
  • Has developed campaigns or field plans with strategies and goals that reflect the mission of the organization. 
  • High accuracy and attention to detail while juggling multiple responsibilities and projects with competing deadlines.
  • Strong sense of organization and time management skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • A strong commitment to results; a “can-do” mindset with an emphasis on accountability.
  • Strong sense of urgency while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot for effective resolution.
  • Adaptable self-starter who can take the appropriate initiative to drive results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively and positively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Resourceful, creative, and open to new ideas.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bilingual, preferably in Arabic, Urdu, Somali, or other commonly spoken languages in Muslim communities. 
  • Have demonstrated experience using digital tools such as VAN, Hustle, and Impactive or innovative management systems to scale advocacy programs.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full time position with a starting salary of $60,000 plus benefits. Following a year of employment with Muslim Women For, employee will have a salary increase opportunity of at least $10,000. 

Additionally, We offer a staff support stipend for professional development and personal wellbeing. As an organization, Muslim Women For closes for an entire month each year to prioritize radical rest and national, cultural, and religious holidays throughout the year. We prefer a candidate who lives in the Raleigh-Triangle (North Carolina) area as we plan for future in-person events.
