December 1, 2021, is an important day for freedom and justice in North Carolina. On this day:
- “The Dignity for Women Who Are Incarcerated Act,” goes into effect in North Carolina. This law puts in place additional protections for people who are pregnant while incarcerated in our state’s jails and prisons. This victory belongs to the currently and formerly incarcerated people who have fought for this statewide change for many years while enduring cruel and dangerous conditions in our jails and prisons.
2. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case that will determine the future of abortion access in North Carolina.
3. We are celebrating this victory in solidarity with Planned Parenthood at their Raleigh Health Center with a block party.
