Interfaith Social Justice Leadership Retreat 2018

During Labor Day 2018, Muslim Women For took femmes and women of color from North Carolina to Washington DC for a weekend of social justice leadership trainings composed of curriculum developed by Muslim Women For.

Our very first cohort trained on community organizing, intersectionality, feminism, movement building, advocacy, and self-defense. This retreat is part of Muslim Women For’s greater commitment to developing fem leaders with an intersectional feminist interfaith social justice lens.

We believe that women and femmes are the future and we will continue to advocate for them, protect them, challenge them to raise their voices, and uplift their contributions.

Thank you to Nida of AzizAllam Photography for the photos! We’d also like to thank all the trainers that attended and shared their knowledge and experiences with our cohort. We are so thankful to have real and lasting relationships with these folks.

Thank you Ghazala Khan, Justice for Muslims Collective, Maha Hilal, Azza Altiraifi, Darakshan Raja, Malikah DC, Hanine Ayyad and Anika Rahman. Lastly, we’d like to thank our friends at the Friends Meeting of Washington and CIRCA at Chinatown for their kindness.

You can view the rest of the photos on our Facebook album.
